As an Economist in the Product Review Branch, you will review the terms and conditions of futures and option contracts, new exchange applications, and exempt market filings to determine whether they conform with the economic requirements of the Commodity Exchange Act and the rules and policies of the Commission. Other specific tasks may include:

  • Providing related technical expertise and conducting analyses regarding energy and natural resources markets that are relied upon in decisions by agency officials that affect the structure and usefulness of derivatives markets overseen by the Commission.

  • Determining whether certain contracts traded on exempt commercial markets serve a significant price function.

  • Performing economic analyses to complete reviews of filing by exempt markets.
